Heartland Regional Genetics Network (HRGN) Outreach Campaign

The Heartland Regional Genetics Network (HRGN) works to improve access to genetic services across an eight-state region of the U.S., focusing on medically underserved populations. To further its mission, HRGN aimed to connect with Spanish-speaking communities through accessible education and digital engagement.

Challenge

HRGN faced the challenge of increasing awareness and understanding of genetic services among Spanish-speaking families who often encountered language barriers and limited healthcare resources. With minimal in-house marketing capacity, HRGN needed a partner who could help them reach these communities effectively and authentically through culturally relevant storytelling.

Solutions

Exclaim partnered with HRGN to develop a targeted outreach and education campaign designed to extend their reach and impact. Key elements included: 

  • Spanish-Language Animated Videos: Five custom educational animations simplifying complex genetic concepts and promoting available services in an approachable, relatable format. 
  • Targeted Digital Advertising: Social media campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube tailored to Spanish-speaking audiences within HRGN’s eight-state region. 
  • Mission-Driven Storytelling: Visual and narrative messaging that built trust, reinforced credibility, and aligned with HRGN’s community-focused mission. 

Results

The campaign delivered measurable results and meaningful community impact. HRGN significantly expanded its online presence—quadrupling its overall reach and growing engagement across all major social platforms. The initiative elevated HRGN’s visibility, strengthened its reputation as a trusted resource, and advanced its mission to improve health outcomes for underserved families through accessible, culturally attuned communication.
